After graduating from the Naval Academy in 1968 with a BS in electrical engineering, Ric reported to Pensacola, Florida for flight training and subsequently to Vietnam. He committed his life to Christ in July, 1969. He considers that the most significant event of his life.

For the next 20 years, Ric and his family would enjoy assignments in Florida, Virginia, Guam, and Jacksonville while his Naval career allowed them to visit 38 states and 25 foreign countries. Ric completed his Masters in Education at University of North Florida in 1986. He obtained his Myers-Briggs Certification (Ric is an INTJ) and attended New Testament Survey and Biblical Counseling courses at Columbia International University. He also became a Fellow in the Professional Photographers of America.

After retirement from the Navy in 1988, Ric started a software training and computer consulting company. He sold his company, Consultech, Inc, in 1995 to work for America Online and open a call center in Jacksonville. He served as the lead trainer. Ric completed his second masters in Computer Information Resource Systems. He is currently on the faculty of  Florida Community College at Jacksonville teaching Computer Science, programming, project management, Photoshop and Cooperative Teaching and Learning.

His wife, Dr. Paige French, was the principal of  Terry Parker High School. She is currently on the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ. They thoroughly enjoy their married children; Jerry and Tammy Logan, Ben and Randa French and Sean and Sara Barnwell. Ric and Paige have attended Christian Family Chapel for 23 years.

His passion, however, is whole-heartedly following after Christ. "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."
