Shirley Elliott is a native of
Jacksonville, Florida. She has been a long-time friend of many of our
local Campus Crusade staff. She studied piano and organ at Bob Jones
University in Greenville, South Carolina. Shirley graduated from
Jacksonville University with a degree in Piano Performance and an
emphasis in accompanying. She worked nearly 13 years with the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers in their Human Resource Department. As the
Training Officer, she acted as a facilitator for many of the
supervisory courses offered.
Shirley put her faith in
Christ as her Savior and Lord when she was just a young chiild. Soon
afterwards, she began piano lessons and it became obvious the Lord had
given her a talent that needed to be developed. She is a gifted
pianist who seeks to honor the Lord with her music. She is often
called to play for weddings, band competitions, make audition tapes
for high schoolers, and play for other special events. Shirley teaches
piano privately in her home and enjoys the opportunity to encourage
young musicians. She serves as a part-time musician at Christian
Family Chapel in Mandarin. This summer she traveled with a team of
musicians who played jazz, salsa, fusion and blues as a means to share
the Gospel in the war torn country of Serbia.
Shirley has a heart for young
women. The Lord has given her opportunity to mentor/disciple many
through the years. She has been married to her husband, Brandt for 31
years. He was her Pastor's son, her childhood sweetheart, and has
become her prayer warrior. They have one daughter, Jennilee who they
home schooled her entire life. She will graduate this year from Bryan
College in Tennessee with a degree in Vocal Performance. She is also
a wonderful pianist and accompanist. She is engaged to be married
next June to a young man who is studying for the ministry. Shirley
has many favorite hymns, but the first verse of "May the Mind of
Christ, My Savior" has been especially meaningful. It says, "May the
mind of Christ my Savior live in me from day to day. By His love and
power controlling all I do and say."
